- lpqserver is obsolete. The functionality is now available
- in spoolserv. The _l_p_q_s_e_r_v_e_r is a server that provides
- information to the Macintosh _K-_S_p_o_o_l _M_o_n_i_t_o_r desk accessory.
- It accepts requests from Macintoshes, and responds with
- information gained by executing _l_p_q(1) (for lpr systems) or
- _l_p_s_t_a_t(1) (for lp systems), or by attempting to read the
- various files in the printer's spool directory.
-
- The _l_p_q_s_e_r_v_e_r is invoked with an argument naming an entry in
- the _p_r_i_n_t_c_a_p(5) file. Flags include:
-
- ----DDDD turns on debugging
-
- _s_p_o_o_l_e_r_n_a_m_e
- causes the name _s_p_o_o_l_e_r_n_a_m_e to appear on the Macintosh.
- It should be the same spooler name that was given to
- _p_a_p_s_e_r_v_e_r(1m).
-
- ----LLLL makes _l_p_q_s_e_r_v_e_r assume _l_p is being used rather than _l_p_r
- on systems where _l_p_r is the default (SGI and SUN).
- This option is useful only on SGI machines (where the
- _l_p and _l_p_r systems both exist), and the user wants to
- route the jobs through _l_p.
-
- ----EEEE causes _l_p_q_s_e_r_v_e_r to invoke _c_o_m_m_a_n_d rather than _l_p_q(1).
-
- The _l_p_q_s_e_r_v_e_r is usually started by _a_t_i_n_i_t(1m) from entries
- in the /usr/etc/appletalk/services file.
-
- If the printer is an AppleTalk printer, _l_p_q_s_e_r_v_e_r will also
- try to update the status file if there are no jobs in the
- queue.
